I had a dream of bright red shoes

They were the best that I choose.

High heels tapped as I walked along

The night was mine and I was gone.

 

I had a dream of a dark blue cloak

It reached the ground from around my throat.

The hood encased my locks of hair

And everyone could not but stare.

 

I tripped my way throughout the night

I had no control despite my might.

It was as though a special magic

Had taken hold and I had had it!

 

I had a dream of a deep green dress

It swirled around with little stress.

The night I did cavort away

The voice of caution held no sway.

 

I had a dream of returning home

Mother worried was on the phone.

Soothing words came tumbling out

As I told her what had come about.

 

The fairies glinted in the light

As I explained my exciting night.

They fluttered round my mother’s head

As I announced it was time for bed!
